Each of goats has an individual personality and pretty much answer to their names! They'll do anything for a ginger biscuit.
Pygmy Goats
We started with Pygmy Goats. As the name suggests a small breed, but with large personality. We have 2 Billy's and 5 Nannies. All run free through the day, unless its wet when they stay in for a snooze as they hate the rain! Definitely a pet rather than anything else, but they do clear undergrowth exceptionally well. Easy to care for, their diet is basic and hoof trimming is the hardest task - instruction given! If you are interested in buying, then be prepared for 2 as they need company.
Boer Goats
Once we were comfortable with goats and how they behave, it was time to move up to full size goats. Having experienced goat meat and becoming aware of its low fat credentials, it was Boer Goat crosses for us. Originating in South Africa, the Boer has a deep body and matures in about a year. We cross Boer with Anglo-Nubian and Saanen.
